NJDOT Route 35/36 Interchange
Eatontown, New Jersey
SELLS first helicopter flight
Our Aerial Mapping Group was selected by NJDOT to provide Photogrammetric Mapping to assist with the reconstruction of Route 35/36 Interchange in Eatontown, New Jersey. The uniqueness of this project is that all of the aerial photography has been taken from a helicopter, rather than from a fixed wing aircraft.

The helicopter flew twelve flight lines at an altitude of 300 feet, producing aerial photography at a negative scale of 1"=50'. From this photography, we created mapping at significantly higher accuracies than are normally achieved using aerial mapping methods. By using this method, we achieved near survey grade accuracy. This reduced the amount of ground survey needed in an area where safety and traffic issues are a big concern. This method kept the ground survey personnel safe and out of dangerous traffic, and eliminated the need to divert traffic while the mapping was being conducted.
