Conceptual Design - Elevated & On-Grade Deck Replacement of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
Bronx & Whitestone, New York
The joint venture team of SELLS/PB was recently awarded this project by the TBTA. This multi-faceted assignment will require the PB/SELLS Team to view the conceptual design as three inter-related but distinct design studies as follows:
-
Bronx-Whitestone Bridge approach deck replacement.
-
Reconfiguring the Queens interchange ramps to and from the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge.
-
The Throgs Neck Bridge feasibility study to add Throgs Neck Bridge ramps to the northbound Cross Island Parkway and the southbound Cross Island Parkway.
Due to the high-volume area, it will be essential that the design team correlate each aspect of the study to maximize the benefits of the proposed improvements, minimize disruptions to the traveling public and TBTA toll revenue during construction, and to provide long-term improvements which will satisfy the long term needs of this vital corridor.
